Princess Sally (her words, not ours) loves to hold court with her sitting on her throne and you petting her. She has her favorite courtiers to be sure, but you can pay homage to her by letting her call the shots. Once you're in the inner circle she'll be yours forever. Provided you keep up that steady diet of petting.
Sally finds herself in need of a new kingdom because her previous subjects emigrated, leaving Sally with no one to rule. We, her newest subjects, find her to be a confident and chatty ruler. She definitely enjoys our company and attention and she's very clear about setting limits on just how much attention she will enjoy at any given time. Sally would rather make the first move to get to know you. As we learned from her previous guardians, once she knows you she becomes a devoted feline friend and not just a princess. Children, however, do not fit into Sally's view of a perfect home (one's home being one's castle and all). Given her history of handling limits, we feel she will thrive in a home with an experienced cat lover. Please ask to read her cat guardian questionnaire for more details.
If you are interested in adopting this lovely calico, be sure you can make time every day for regular, short grooming sessions to prevent her fur from getting tangled. If you've had experience with cats who rule and have the time for some daily love and attention, then we think Sally may be the right cat for you. Long live feline love!
CHARLES is a delightful and dapper older man who can't wait to move onto his next adventure. Despite all the crazy changes in his life recently (how would you like to suddenly find yourself moved out of your house without notice?!) he is coping with dignity and grace. His playful charm has endeared him to all who meet him. He likes to chase after balls and plush toys (the guy has taste and style)but something squeaky is his favorite cuz he's sort of a fun lovin' guy. AND he brings it all back - like retriever style. Awesome. This kind of daily fun will light up your world. And his too!
In his previous home, Charles lived with other dogs and a toddler. He was a bit possessive about his food and toys. If he is going to live with another dog again he should be monitored at feeding and play time to ensure a peaceful co-existence. Also, we recommend that Charles live with older children (16+) who are respectful of him and don't grab him suddenly like a toddler might.
Charles has a large and terrific personality in a nice little package of a dog. He's looking for you and hopes you find him soon.

Piper should have her own YouTube channel. Grumpy Cat move over, Wand Slayer is here! Piper might seem a little aloof at first - she IS a cat, after all - but seduce her with a wand toy and settle in for some very amusing kitty play. And this girl has attitude! She doesn't just bat at her adversary, she positively glowers at it. Way more fun than most TV shows! Piper will take her time to get to know you, but as many of her Pet Pal friends will attest, when she feels like you're A-OK, she'll seek you out for petting and grooming - and of course PLAY! Nice, too, that she likes grooming because her gorgeous coat is going to need to some regular attention. She's been known to repay the favor with head bumps and even some biscuit-making.
Start Piper out in a quiet room with all of her kitty accoutrements, especially one or more beds or hiding boxes where she can feel safe. Visit her often. She will find it hard to resist your petting and attention. In time she should be ready to explore the rest of her new home, but always know that she may need a safe place to hide: a closet, a cupboard, or the space beneath a bed.
If you are drawn to spunky cats with soft fur and a great purr this torbie beauty would love to be your one-and-only.
Francis came to Marin Humane Society from another shelter and we have found him to be sweet, mellow, easy to pick-up and a bunny that likes to be petted. He does not like to be held and can be quite squirmy during a nail trim. A calm family with older children that respects that he prefers "four on the floor" would be best for him. He enjoys wicker toys and shredding paper (like old phone books). He does like people attention so his new family should be ready to spend as much time with him as they can.
We don't know anything about Francis' history or his age, but we suspect he's a young bun. Overall he is mellow like most white rabbits with pink eyes. These are usually the best bunnies for most homes.
All rabbits need time outside of their enclosure to burn off energy and to kick up their feet! A long hallway or a room they haven't been in before will do the trick. Getting out of their enclosure for 2-3 hours a day is critical. Not only does it help with boredom, but it helps with moving their food through their delicate system. And make sure to provide a variety of rabbit safe toys. Rotating them will keep them more interested in playing with them.
He should eat unlimited amounts of Timothy, Oat Hay and/or Orchard Grass hay, 2-3 tablespoons of pellets (no dried fruit or nut mixes), a small handful of veggies and an occasional piece of fruit as a treat.
Beautiful Valerie is a big, independent gal with some strong views of her own about relationships and playtime. She enjoys both: relationships and playtime. She will do best in a calm, adults-only household with guardians who have had some experience with cats and who understand feline body language. Valerie is not a lap snuggler, but likes to be near by, in proximity, as it were. She very much enjoys having company around her and has been known to wait at the front door for her people to come home. Her front paws are sadly declawed, but her body language will let you know when her tolerance for handling has exceeded its limit.
Valerie is a fabulous, confident cat who will enhance your life and steal your heart in the bargain. Ask to meet her and get the full Valerie treatment!
Peaches is a 6+ girl looking for her perfect match to snuggle with. She prefers people to dogs so she needs to be the only dog in the home. Who's the lucky person to be with this sweet girl and goes "aww" all day? (2016)
UPDATE: Preston has been adopted!
Preston is a 7-year-old lovable big cat with gorgeous long fur. He was found as a stray and is now looking for his forever home at the Marin Humane Society in Novato, CA. Preferably to be the only cat and the only animal in the home. (2016)
